tin hats and Bad Fic

I know y'all busy sewing on the last of the sequins on your PVC ballgown for WinProm, or like me just trying to find some clean socks, but I just wanted to pop in and explain the madness behind pimp two Wincon events.

The Third Annual Tin Hat Pageant will be hosted by myself and runway mistress coiledsoul and this year's theme is "Shipping Wars". Basically we supply the alfoil, you supply the crafty skills to create a headpiece honoring your favorite fandom pair. Contestants get one minute to explain why their 'Ship rules the seas before showing off their creation along with their fiercest runway walk. Winner to be judged by the audience.

For Bad Fic Idol you need to craft a piece of the worst writing imaginable. Roll out those cliches, well worn tropes, and dodgy epithets and hand knit them into a story up to 1,000 words. It doesn't have to be a complete story it might be an excerpt from a WIP (chapter 217/?), a selection of limericks or any other narrative form you like.

Any fandoms, all ratings are allowed; the only rule is that you must warn for leopard porn. (This rule arose following the fic that broke Wincon 07.)

All fics are performed by moi complete with dodgy Aussie accent and judged by our judges o'snark: girlguidejones, drvsilla and a surprise guest judge.

There is time in the workshop schedule from 12.30 to 2 on Saturday to craft hats and fic but feel free to bring one you cooked up earlier. Fics are best written with a group of cracked fangirls. These are in plentiful supply at the Con.

You can either email your story to me at missyjack [at] livejournal.com or give me a printout. Deadline is 2pm on Saturday.

The Tin Hat Pagent runs from 2-250 on Saturday, followed straight after from 3-5 by Fic Idol.

Feel free to ask any questions you have about the complez rules and judging criteria for these events.
